There are millions of Christians in Nigeria. While some people don’t mind sitting in what you call one-room churches, some others prefer gigantic auditoriums.
Over the years, there has been arguments amongst some Christians and eve those of other religions, concerning the large church auditoriums. Some people spending large sum of money erecting large structures is not really necessary as churches can just stay small and break into multiple units. Another school of thought are of the opinion that a large church auditorium is necessary not just because it is aesthetically pleasing, but also because it is also necessary that people all gather en masse to worship, sometimes.

Hand of God Cathedral
The Hand of God Cathedral is located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. This church auditorium belongs to Salvation Ministries. It was completed in 2020 and it serves as Salvation Ministries headquarters.
Hand of God Cathedral is not just the largest church auditorium in Nigeria, it is also the largest in the world. With a seating capacity of 120,000, the only other structure larger than it in the world is the world’s biggest stadium in North Korea which has a capacity of 150,000.
Glory Dome
Before the completion of Salvation Ministries Hand of God Cathedral in 2020, Glory Dome held the title of the largest church auditorium in Nigeria and even in the world.
Located in Abuja, Glory Dome has a seating capacity of 100,000.
Glory Dome is the headquarters of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
Champions Royal Assembly
Champions Royal Assembly was founded by Pastor Joshua Iginla. It is located in Abuja, Nigeria. With a seating capacity of 80,000, its main auditorium which was completed in 2015 in Abuja, is one of the largest church auditoriums in Nigeria. Its large capacity hall has gained it the title of the third largest church auditorium in Nigeria.
Faith Tabernacle
For the longest time Faith Tabernacle held the Guiness record for the largest church auditorium in Nigeria. The building which has a seating capacity of 50,000 with an overflow which can take 25,000 people, is the oldest church auditorium on this list. It was established in 1999. It is believed that the existence of the Faith Tabernacle is what drove other churches to erect their gigantic structures.
Faith Tabernacle is owned by Living Faith Church also known as Winner’s Chapel.
International Gospel Centre
The International Gospel Centre is owned by Word of Life Bible Church. Word of Life Bible Church was founded by Pastor Ayodele Oritsejafor is not only one of the largest church auditoriums in Nigeria, it also holds the title of the biggest church auditorium in Delta state.
The building which was completed in 2014, has a seating capacity of 35,000.
