Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry or MFM for short is a Pentecostal denomination in Lagos, Nigeria.
The church was founded in 1989 when its General overseer Pastor Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, received a call to ministry from the Lord.
What began as a little cell group that had about 24 people meeting in Olukoya’s living room, has grown and expanded so much to become the largest single Christian congregation in Africa, having as many as 200,000 members in a single meeting.
Mountain of fire is known to be a ‘prayer machine.’ This is because the church places a lot of emphasis on prayers against the works of witches and demonic forces. The church is also very international about deliverance. The slogan die by fire has been associated with them due to their unique prayer style which often involves calling down fire and brimstone on their enemies.
The question however still remains, why does this Church group pray the way they do?
Why Mountain of Fire Members Pray A lot
The influence a leader has over his followers is undoubtedly potent. The same can be said for a Pastor and his congregants.
At Mountain of fire and Miracles Ministry, Pastor Olukoya teaches his members about the existence of hidden evil even in the most unlikely places. He also talks about spiritual forces that work to hinder people from making progress or fulfilling their destinies. These teachings end with prayer points which are targeted at freeing individuals from that hidden bondage. This is the reason Mountain of fire members pray a lot.
Mountain of fire does not practice just any kind of prayer. It believes in ‘Aggressive prayer.’ The general overseer of this church has several books on prayer and praying. Prayer is definitely a thing at this church.
Asides from praying, another strong point of this church group is deliverance ministry. The church really cares about keeping its members free of all demonic influences. Some of these influences can be prevented by praying, while others who already found their way to get to you, have to be cast out.
Another thing you must know about this church group is that it doesn’t believe in raising members who depend solely on the ‘Man of God.’ At Mountain of fire, your hands are taught to war and your fingers to fight.
You can be sure of this.
